"Here is the spot, where is the man?"
There was once a fisherman from Spakenburg who could hear voices in the water. When he was sailing on the Zuiderzee a voice from the waves asked him: "Here is the spot but where is the man?" The skipper, who understood nothing of this question, decided to tell the clergyman. The latter listened closely to the tale and wanted to witness this for himself. So the skipper promised to take the clergyman with him on his next trip. And then, in the middle of the night, it happened; the clergyman, who was lying on his bunk , was woken up by the fisherman. He dashed onto the deck but, in his haste, he stumbled, fell over board and drowned. It is strange but after this tragedy the voice has never again been heard.
