KNVB (Royal Dutch Football Association), Holland, Netherlands

Dutch Football is famous all over the world. For a small country like the Netherlands that is quite an achievement. Over the past 35 years the Dutch played an important role in international football, with the National Team in European and World Cups, with the biggest Dutch football clubs in the major European Cup competitions and with Dutch players in the most popular European clubs.

The Royal Netherlands Football Association (Dutch: Koninklijke Nederlandse Voetbalbond, or KNVB) is the governing body of football in the Netherlands. It organises the main Dutch football leagues (Eredivisie and Eerste Divisie), the amateur leagues, the KNVB Cup, and the Dutch national football team. It is based in the municipality of Zeist.

The KNVB came into being on 8 December 1899 and was one of the founding members of FIFA in 1904. The Netherlands Football League Championship had already existed for a decade unofficially when the association was founded.

It won Euro 88 and reached two consecutive World Cup finals in 1974 and 1978 but lost both finals to their respective host nations, West Germany and Argentina. At the peak of its success in the 1970s, the team was famous for its mastery of Total Football and was nicknamed "Clockwork Orange" for its precision passing. In many countries the team is colloquially referred to as "Holland".

Around the world people admire the Dutch style of playing soccer; adventurous and attacking, always working to possess or gain possession of the soccer ball. Many icons of modern soccer come from this small nation and the prestige of the KNVB: Ruud van Nistelrooij, Clarence Seedorf, Arjen Robben and Robin van Persie just to name a few.

National Team

The Dutch National Team gained an impressive record in the world, with the so called ‘Total Football’. In the last 30 years the Dutch National Team was almost always present at the World Cup. The best achievements are:

KNVB Soccer Clinics

KNVB Soccer Clinics are customized training programs of 3 to 4 days. An officially licensed KNVB coach works with a girls or boys team and its coach on individual soccer skills, as well as team tactics. The KNVB coach also analyzes one or two soccer games against local teams and evaluates the players. Upon completion, each player receives a KNVB certificate and some KNVB give-aways, where the coach gets a special ‘KNVB Clinic Coach Kit’.

The KNVB Academy

The KNVB Academy is the Educational Department of the Royal Netherlands Football Association. As a small European country with a limited number of active players, the KNVB was forced to develop Educational Programs already in the 1960s. More than 45 years of experience in Football Development is gathered in ‘The KNVB Academy’. The Academy is active in following areas:
1. In the Netherlands

2. International
