Stork Aerospace designs, develops and produces advanced structures and electrical systems for the aerospace and defense industry and supplies integrated maintenance services and products to aircraft owners and operators. Space activities

The key competencies and core capabilities in the field of aerostructures are e.g. engineering, single step assembly, robotics, composites, high speed machining of Aluminium and Titanium, and metal bonding.

Stork Fokker focuses in space projects on structural parts for launch vehicles e.g. the engine frames of the Ariane 5 first and second stage: the BME and the ESC-A thrust frame. Design of the launch vehicle structures is performed by Dutch Space in Leiden.

Stork Fokker was also responsible for the manufacturing of the interstages 1/2 and 2/3 and the engine frame of the third stage for the very successful Ariane 4 launcher. Stork Fokker has also produced the solar array back panels for the METOP, PPF, Artemis, Envisat, SOHO, XMM en MSG 1,2 en 3 satellites. The honey comb sandwich structures are strong and lightweight.
