National Aviation Theme Park Aviodrome (Nationaal Luchtvaart-Themapark Aviodrome) at Lelystad Airport

Take flight at the Aviodrome - A day in the clouds
Experience 100 intriguing aviation years in the National Aviation Theme Park and Museum Aviodrome (Nationaal Luchtvaart-Themapark Aviodrome) at Lelystad Airport (just 45 minutes from Amsterdam) in Flevoland province on the eastern side of the Zuider Zee, about 45 minutes drive from Amsterdam. The Aviodrome, with its very large collection of historic planes, is a unique aviation theme park and is opened year round. The museum's former KLM Boeing 747-200 which they have on display is a prominent feature on the airport. Each year around the first week of November, it hosts the FSweekend, the largest flight simulator event in the world.
The interactive Aviodrome exposition and the dynamic theme park bring history back to life. Regularly special activities and events are organized for the public. During school holidays special activities for children are organized. The National Aviation Theme Park Aviodrome is a great day out for young and old alike. You can also take a look inside a Boeing 747 Jumbo jet and see the areas that are normally not accessible when you fly, such as the cockpit, the galley, the cargo hold and the Business Class accommodation. Various events are organised throughout the year.
Dutch shipbuilding in the 17th century - Batavia Shipyard is not far from Aviodrome. You can buy combination ticket Batavia Yard and National Aviation Theme Park and Museum Aviodrome. With this combination ticket, which is valid for one year, you can spend the entire day at both places for just €20 (children €14). In addition to an exhibition space (some 6,000m2) and a widescreen film theatre, the National Aviation Theme Park Aviodrome has a large outside area with various historical aviation buildings and aircraft. Adult combination ticket Batavia Yard / Aviodrome: € 20,00, Child combination ticket Batavia Yard / Aviodrome: € 14,00. Dont miss adjacent RCE Lelystad (formerly RACM): the largest nautical archaeological depot of the Netherlands, Batavia Stad: Netherlands first factory outlet shopping center, worlds largest Polder museum (Nieuw Land Poldermuseum) in Lelystad.
Permanent exhibition
The 'time machine' takes visitors back to 1896, showing them key events in Dutch aviation history on the way. Now the journey though history can really begin. Authentic Dutch aircraft are presented in beautiful displays that, together with many visual and sound effects, provide the right period atmosphere. When museum guests visit 'the 1930's' they can board the 'Pelikaan', a beautifully simulated pre-war KLM Fokker airliner, to experience what air travel must have been like in the early years of passenger air transport. In the 'top-down' theatre visitors take on the role of passengers in a hot air balloon, flying over some of the most interesting sites in the Netherlands. The size of the post-war passenger aircraft in the exhibition hall will certainly impress. The concept of flight is explained in the 'aviation lab'; hands-on experiments show how and why aircraft can fly.
Theme park
Apart from the beautiful museum exhibition National Aviation Theme Park Aviodrome (Nationaal Luchtvaart-Themapark Aviodrome) at Lelystad Airport has much more on offer. A 250-seat movie theatre offers spectacular viewing of wide screen aviation films. In the T-2 hangar outside, the Douglas DC-2 'Uiver', the last flying DC-2 in the world, can be seen. The DC-2 will soon be joined by the Lockheed Constellation, a graceful airliner from the 1940's, which is also in flying condition. The Aviodrome boasts the largest replica in the Netherlands: the Schiphol 1928 building. An exact replica of the 1920's Amsterdam Airport terminal building. Children will love the flight simulator in which the thrills of flying a jet fighter can be experienced first hand.
Helicopter
Next to the numerous fixed wing options, Aviodrome also have one helicopter ride on offer. The Robinson R44. This small helicopter can seat three passengers. The prices are the same as the Cessna 172 flights, but the flight time is only seven minutes. The flight will take you around the immediate airport area. If you want to fly with only two persons the fare increases to 65 euro per person. For one person the fare is 120 Euro. Please note that these fares do not include access to the museum!

The Aviodrome is always exciting!
