The Netherlands Chamber of Commerce (KvK)
The Netherlands Chamber of Commerce manages the trade register. The Chamber's other tasks are to provide Dutch entrepreneurs with information, stimulate regional trade & industry and advise local and regional government. The Netherlands Chamber of Commerce is incorporated under public law and, as such, targets its services at Dutch businesses across all sectors. Information is the second main task of the Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber gives general and specific information to all entrepreneurs operating in the Netherlands.
With 50 offices spread throughout the Netherlands, a helping hand on how to import or export is never far away. The Chamber of Commerce operates independently and employs expert staff such as international trade consultants. Their services are directed to companies just starting their import or export activities as well as to those with years of experience in doing business abroad.
Topics covered by our information services range from import duties, turnover tax, customs issues, import-export documentation, Incoterms, commercial agents and distribution agreements, international payment transactions, market information, emerging markets and subsidy programmes. Basic guidance and information services consist of brochures, books, seminars, possibility to participate in trading missions, trade fairs etc.
In addition, all registered businesses pay an annual subscription. This income is exclusively used to finance activities that promote the interests of the regional business community. The Ministry of Economic Affairs monitors the subscription charge. The core package of information services is grouped into five specializations, namely:
- Starting entrepreneurs
- Growing companies
- Import and export
- Company termination and transfer
- Legislation and Regulations
The Chamber's third main task is to stimulate the regional economy. On the basis of their expertise and consultation with employers' and employees' organisations, the Chambers of Commerce comment on (regional) government plans.
